Over 100 Tourism students gave advice to Breda University of Applied Sciences (BUas) on the outside space of the future campus grounds.
The Campus Experience Design Challenge introduced third-year Tourism students to the concept of Design Thinking, asking them to answer three different questions relating to the campus landscape:
- How can campus users be informed in pleasant way by means of signage?
- Which functions can we add to the places / meeting spots located in the camping grounds?
- How can we use the BUas park for the purpose of community building: how can we use the green outside space to bring students, employees and external parties together? So that we can create creative, international partnerships that benefit everyone?
During a pressure cooker session, the students dealt with the above-mentioned issues. Isabelle Leijser was present on behalf of the campus team to answer any specific questions related to the subject matter and the creative process was led by Michiel Brokke.
At the end of the afternoon, the students pitched their best plans in the form of five inspiring presentations. Although it was hard to select a winner, the jury ultimately decided on ITM2 as the best team, because of the consistent structure of their proposal and the excellent presentation, finished off with a fun video. The campus team will include this input in designing the layout of the campus grounds.
